Who are you?
I am Sam Hodgkin
What do you do?
I have no idea what I do.
For many years I produced directed and wrote for tv. and made pop videos. I also sang in a band.
What other bikes do you own?
I own three bikes, all steel framed.
A condor, a Mercian and the explorateur. I favour Campagnolo. My explorateur is a particular colour. East German border guard anorak green. Often other cyclists admire the colour but I rarely have the breath to tell them what it is.
It is a very comfortable but sprightly cycle.
Where you have been with your Explorateur?
I have ridden with it in the Basque Pyrenees
Toulon
Provence
The Massif Central
Dordogne and Lot
Normandy
The chilterns
The Cotswolds
And regents park.
Has the bike ever drawn comment?
It is admired wherever I go and people seem to love watching it being assembled from its suitcase in some remote spot !
